What Will Duke Arts Look Like in 20 Years?

A panel of Duke faculty, administrators and alumni were asked to look into the future of the arts at Duke. Professor Mark Anthony Neal led the discussion with basketball star and noted art collector Grant Hill '94; Anna Kipervaser MFA'15; Vice Provost for the Arts Scott Lindroth; and Professor Beverly McIvers.

With the construction of the new Arts Center, the momentum in the arts program that has developed in the 10 years since the opening of the Nasher Museum of Art is expected to be an even more significant presence in the Duke educational mission. The panelists all contributed to shaping the arts at Duke, and they said they are setting the bar high in their expectations. Said Grant Hill, "The perception of Duke is of excellence. I believe excellence in the arts should be part of our brand."

Part of Homecoming Weekend, the event was held through Duke Alumni Forever Learning, which delivers educational programs to the university’s 160,000 alumni.
