Merrill Shatzman, professor of the practice in printmaking in the Department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies, is currently teaching a class in printmaking and Chinese culture at Duke Kunshan University. It is the first hands-on art practice course offered there.

The course focuses on woodblock printmaking, with students creating works relating to different facets of how woodblocks were used in Chinese art – as descriptive images, in books and as posters.

Students use woodblocks in printing during a class with Shatzman.
