UPDATE: West Main Street Repairs Delayed, Closure to Start Tuesday

Duke transit routes will be adjusted during week-long city closure to fix water lines

Traffic advisory graphic with road signs.

Update: Monday, Feb. 26:

Due to wet weather, the City of Durham Department of Water Management is postponing the closure of West Main Street between North Buchanan Boulevard and Broad Street to Tuesday, February 27, weather permitting.

The street is expected to remain closed for at least a week while the city’s contractor makes necessary repairs. Traffic detour signage will be posted in the area throughout this required closure.

There will be no changes to Duke’s C1 bus service, however, the construction work will result in the following adjustments to Duke bus routes:

  •  There will be no Swift Avenue inbound stop on the C2 route. Instead, it will bypass Swift Avenue and continue up Campus Drive, circling the statue and stopping at Gilbert-Addoms residence hall.
  •  The C3 route will bypass Swift Avenue in both directions. The Class Change bus will service Campus Drive in both directions before turning on Swift Avenue to continue normal route.
  •  The CCX route will bypass Swift Avenue and instead use campus drive.

When West Main Street reopens, all bus service will return to regular service.
