Celebrate Duke Appreciation with a Movie, Durham Bulls Deals and More
Attend a free outdoor screening of “Justice League” and celebrate staff and faculty marking career milestones

Update May 18, 2018: Duke Human Resources has rescheduled the outdoor movie to Friday, June 1, on the East Campus lawn.
Throughout May, Duke will pay tribute to 38,000 University and Health System staff and faculty with a variety of events and special offers ranging from a free outdoor movie to discounts at restaurants and Durham Bulls games.
Duke will also honor staff and faculty marking career milestones of 10, 15, 20 with an invitation-only lunch. Employees celebrating 25 years or more of service are invited to a dinner and dance.
“It is important that we take time to celebrate the hard work of our faculty and staff,” said Antwan Lofton, Duke Human Resource’s assistant vice president for staff and family programs. “We value their efforts and all they do on a daily basis for Duke University and Health System.”
A popular event in May is the free movie on the East Campus lawn. This year, “Justice League” will be screened on May 18. The film finds popular characters like Wonder Woman, Batman and Aquaman teaming up to fight evil. Arrive at 7:30 p.m. to see character actors portraying some of the film’s superheroes. The movie starts at 8:30 p.m.
Kelsey Doyle, a labor and delivery nurse at Duke University Hospital, saw the movie “Sing” with her husband during last year’s Duke Appreciation.
“It’s really nice for Duke to offer us so much to enjoy,” Doyle said. “Duke Appreciation gives you a special feeling of being valued.”

Duke Family Nights at Durham Bulls Games
May 3, 9, 15, 30
Staff and faculty save at four Durham Bulls games. Tickets must be purchased online by the day before a game.
- May 3: Each ticket includes $5 in concession credit.
- May 9: Get a limited-edition Durham Bulls bucket hat.
- May 15: Each ticket comes with a $10 concession credit.
- May 30: Each ticket includes a $5 concession credit.
Movie Night: “Justice League” – East Campus Lawn [Due to weather, this event is canceled]
May 18 at 7:30 p.m. (movie begins at 8:30 p.m.)
Bring chairs, blankets and snacks to the East Campus Quad for an outdoor screening of “Justice League.” Popcorn will be provided while supplies last. A valid Duke ID is required.
