Duke has formed a new partnership with ride-sharing service Lyft to provide free transportation for employees and students to certain locations.

The partnership replaces Duke’s previous pilot program with Uber and will provide enhanced service for students with transportation to and from the Shepherd Nature Trail in Duke Forest. Employees and students will both have free transportation to and from the Duke Lemur Center and Duke Campus Farm.

Service to each location must begin or end at West Campus, Central or East campuses between 6 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. daily.

Rides will be billed to the university. To access an individualized promotion code, Duke community members must do the following:

  • Download the Lyft app from the Apple App Store and Google Play
  • Create a Lyft account with your @duke.edu email address
  • Visit parking.duke.edu/lyft and sign an electronic waiver and release for the program. You must complete the waiver one time when using each location. After your first service at each location, you will not need to complete the waiver again.

Per policy, Duke community members cannot request a ride-hailing service or taxi from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in the following areas

  • West Campus bus stop
  • Bryan Center Circle
  • Research Drive Circle
  • East Campus bus stop
