Capitol Collaboration: Duke, UNC Co-Host DC Event for Alumni, NC Congressional Staff

UNC and Duke host event in Duke in DC office

The state of North Carolina unifies more than it divides for those serving its interests on Capitol Hill. More than 60 Duke alumni, UNC Chapel Hill alumni and North Carolina delegation staff assembled at the Duke in DC office on Feb. 12 for a Welcome 116th Congress reception, which Duke in DC and UNC-Chapel Hill were co-hosts.

Meant to offer diverse cohorts the chance to network and communicate off Capitol Hill, the reception brought together groups sharing North Carolina connections.

“Politics is pretty divisive these days” said Duke’s Associate Vice President for Government Relations Christopher Simmons, “but when Duke and UNC Chapel Hill work together, there isn’t a stronger public-private partnership in the country.”
