Duke staff and faculty are invited to celebrate the holiday season during the annual Duke Holiday Event on Dec. 10 in Duke University Chapel.

The event, hosted by Duke Human Resources, will include a musical performance by the Duke University Chorale and remarks by Antwan Lofton, Vice President of Duke Human Resources. It will be streamed live and later available on demand on Working@Duke’s YouTube channel, where you can subscribe to see more content.

A gift will be given to staff and faculty while they last, and a dessert reception with holiday treats, hot apple cider and hot chocolate on the Chapel Quad follows the 11 a.m. performance.

“This event allows us to come together as a community and just be able to reflect back on a very full year,” Lofton said. “My hope and my desire is that people will allow this to almost be the ‘comma’ in their holiday season, as a chance to recharge and come together as a Duke community before traveling for the holidays to be with families – and to recognize the fact that we, too, are a Duke family.”

The Chorale is the primary choral group of the Department of Music at Duke and made up of 55 singers, led by Allan Friedman and Reyna Alston, accompanied by Mary Hamilton at piano. It sings sacred and secular music from a variety of eras and traditions throughout the year including a Family Weekend Concert, multiple benefit concerts for Durham charities and a Spring Concert with orchestra.
