Microplastics can be found in the food we eat, the water we drink, the clothing we wear, the oceans in which we swim and even the air we breathe.
One effort is a new master’s program that trains engineers to do the storytelling, speak in plain language — and think about the uncertainty that comes with natural disasters.
MBA student Eliza Harrison's expertise spans the full seaweed supply chain – from cultivation and harvesting to processing and product development. She sees seaweed not just as a climate solution, but as a platform for innovation across habitat restoration, carbon capture, animal feed and sustainable materials such as bioplastics.
The SALA & Duke Summit on Climate and Sustainability forged new connections between attendees representing a wide variety of sectors.. Immersive breakout experiences on May 22 included West Campus, Duke Forest, Duke Gardens, Duke Athletics, and the Lemur Center.
The new initiative aims to contribute to a global conversation about the new horizons that AI can open up for us, and how to keep it from exacerbating some of our greatest challenges.
