Easing Energy Use

Two DukeEngage students spent the summer counseling Durham residents on energy reduction

A pair of Duke students are spending their summer helping Durham residents lower their energy bills.

Seniors Brian Adams and Victoria Castells are going door to door in the Southwest Central Durham neighborhood providing energy-saving tips to residents as part of an initiative by the nonprofit Clean Energy Durham. The goal of the program is to gather neighbors into groups that can spread low-cost and no-cost energy reduction practices.

Adams and Castells are participating in the Clean Energy Durham program as part of DukeEngage, the university's program for supporting students in undertaking summer projects that combine scholarship and service. This summer 365 students are involved in DukeEnage at locations around the world.
