Parking, Transit Options Adjust for Winter Break

Buses will not follow a normal schedule around Christmas and New Year’s

Duke Parking and Transportation Services will adjust its transit schedule and parking lot availability during winter break, from Dec. 19 to Jan. 8.

Regular bus service will be available Dec. 19 through Dec. 22, Dec. 27 through Dec. 29, and Jan. 3 through Jan. 6 for all H Routes, PR1 and Duke Vans. On these days the LaSalle Loop (LL) and CCX routes will operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

There will be no H, LL, PR1 or Duke Vans service on the campus holidays: Dec. 23, 26, Dec. 30 and Jan. 2.  Limited CCX service will be offered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on these days.

Additionally, transit and van services, will not operate on Dec. 24, 25, 31, and Jan.1.   

All routes will resume their regular schedule on Jan. 9. Details regarding winter break bus schedule changes are available at the Parking and Transportation website.

Parking facility availability during winter break will also be adjusted as follows:

  • Friday, Dec. 23 to Saturday, Dec. 24:  All garages and all gated lots will operate under afterhours and weekend access rules for employee and student motorists. 
  • Sunday, Dec. 25: All garages and gated lots will be open for complimentary parking.
  • Monday, Dec. 26:  Beginning at 4 a.m., all garages and all gated lots will operate under afterhours and weekend access rules for employee and student motorists. 
  • Tuesday, Dec. 27 to Thursday, Dec. 29:  All garages and all gated surface lots will operate normally.
  • Friday, Dec. 30 to Saturday, Dec. 31:  All garages and all gated lots will operate under afterhours and weekend access rules for employee and student motorists. 
  • New Year’s Day, Sunday, Jan. 1:  All garages and gated lots will be open for complimentary parking.
  • Monday Jan. 2:  Beginning at 4 a.m., all garages and all gated lots will operate under afterhours and weekend access rules for employee and student motorists. 
  • Tuesday, Jan.3:  All garages and surface lots will resume normal operations.

Parking and Transportation offices at 302 Science Drive (garage) will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan2. The Duke Clinic office will be closed Dec. 23 through Dec. 26 and Dec. 30 through Jan 2. The offices will resume their normal schedules on Jan. 3.
