If you’re an employee of Duke University or Duke Health System and you’re in the market for an Apple product, now is the time to buy.

The Faculty and Staff Appreciation Sale on Apple products returns to Duke University Stores from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 15 in the lower level of the University Store in the Bryan Center. The event, which features an 8 percent discount on the already-low educational prices, has been one of the stores’ most popular events.

You can reserve your MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPad or iMac in advance online here. It’s recommended that you reserve by noon on Monday, Nov. 5 to ensure you get what you want. If you miss the reservation period, employees can also show up to purchase an item on the day of the sale. But availability of items will be limited to what’s in stock.

Previous sales have drawn long lines and resulted in as many as 250 Apple computers sold in a single day. John Gorsuch, associate general manager of retail sales for Duke University Stores, expects the high demand to continue with this fall’s sale.

“We wanted this to be a little before people got into the extremely busy holiday season,” Gorsuch said. “Once you hit Black Friday, people start thinking about electronics. We wanted to be a little ahead of that, so that’s why we picked November 15.”

Duke employees can purchase an iMac for as low as $1,149.08 or a MacBook Air for $781.08. MacBook Pros can be had for as low as $1,149.08 and iPads can be purchased for $716.68.

“It’s a lot of fun,” Gorsuch said of the sale. “It’s been an experience to roll this out to the faculty and staff on this campus because a lot of them don’t realize they have this benefit.”

If you add an Apple Watch 4 to your purchase, $10 will be deducted from the regular price.

Duke Credit Union staff members will be on hand to help employees enroll in the Duke Employee Computer Purchase Plan, which allows staff and faculty to pay for a new computer through payroll deduction.
