Duke Wins Recognition for Purchasing Sustainable Laboratory Supplies
One of 13 research institutions to adopt a new labeling standard
The International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories has recognized Duke among 13 universities for ‘sustainable procurement leadership’ for supporting a new labeling program that identifies the energy and water use and end-of-life disposal for laboratory supplies. Laboratories are of particular concern for sustainability efforts: they consume more energy and water than a typical office building and discard billions of pounds of plastic each year.
